Using the story of Savitri and Satyavan from the Mahabharata, Sri Vasantha Sai brought an entirely new angle to Sri Aurobindo’s poetic masterpiece Savitri. In meditation, Sri Sathya Sai Baba asked Sri Vasantha Sai to “compare your life with that of Savitri, referring to the parts of the text that I have indicated in the book.”
“Savitri changes the fate of her husband. Swami and I change the fate of an Age! Love conquers death and we complete the Avataric task by changing the Kali Yuga into Sathya Yuga.”
M. P. Pandit, former secretary of Aurobindo’s Ashram, secretary to the Mother and prolific writer of spiritual books, wrote the book A Summary of Savitri, from which the passages for this book were taken.
